Coventry MotoFest 2016
Coventry Motofest is to host a second circuit at this year’s festival with Gymkhana cars, drift cars and stock cars all set to feature on the new short oval track.
The new short track oval circuit will be created from the Moat Street car park area near to Junction 7 of the Coventry Ring Road and will feature an array of smokin hot, four wheeled action of all shapes and sizes.
One of the headline acts for the new short track oval are 12 cars from the UK Formula G Championship, which showcases the Gymkhana racing style and hosts its championship rounds at the Santa Pod Raceway.
In Gymkhana racing , drivers must navigate their way around a series of obstacles from monster truck tyres, to slaloms and washing machines, before memorising the track layout to beat the course and their opponent in the fastest time possible.
At a launch for the short track circuit announcement, two Gymkhana Subaru Imprezas, driven by top Formula G drivers Jake Archer and Matt Miller, performed demonstration runs on a temporary night circuit created on the Coventry Ring Road.
Alongside the Formula G cars, the Motofest short track oval circuit on June 4 – 5 will feature an array of cars from the Coventry Stadium race series including BRISCA F1, F2 and V8 cars, mini stocks and heritage stock cars.
There will also be a range of drift cars, including Coventry based outfit Slip Wheel , who will bring their collection of bright yellow drift machines to perform various stunts and tricks on the circuit.
Darren Langeveld, Coventry Motofest Race Director, said: “Coventry Motofest has doubled the fun as we now have not just one but two circuits for this year’s event.
“We will have a full programme of competition and performance cars and bikes, racing trucks and vintage vehicles all running on the main long track circuit, alongside a new short track oval filled with Gymkhana Grid cars, stock cars and drift cars.
“As we keep saying the Coventry Motofest event just gets bigger and better each year and we look forward to putting on an exciting show to celebrate Coventry’s motoring heritage.”
