Coventry MotoFest 2016
Coventry Motofest is to play host to a new Road to Coventry classic run – a touring assembly which will see participants converge on the city from starting points in the north and south of England.
Set to take place on Saturday 4th June crews on the Road to Coventry will enjoy a day of classic motoring, before converging at a dedicated meeting point outside the City of Coventry.
After gathering at the agreed meeting point, Road to Coventry crews will drive in cavalcade on the Ring Road circuit, closed for the event, before taking up their dedicated parking positions to enjoy the action available on the Motofest circuit.
In the evening run participants will drive to Coventry Stadium to be entertained with a round of the Formula One Stockcar Championship. There will again be dedicated parking and a hospitality viewing area with a light evening meal for all crews taking part.
For crews who wish to return to Motofest on Sunday 5th June, dedicated parking in the city centre will once again be available together with the chance to be a passenger in a “drift car”, with a trained “drift” driver, who will be carrying out demonstrations as part of the day’s festivities.
James Noble, Coventry Motofest Festival Director, said: “We are excited to announce the new Road to Coventry classic vehicle run.
“It’s been designed very much in the spirit of renowned classic runs such as the Norwich Union MSA classic. The format will be very similar in that it will involve vehicles setting off from set locations in the north and south of England to assemble at a designated point, in this instance the Coventry Motofest event.
“We want to give participants the opportunity to enjoy a classic day’s motoring topped off with attendance at Motofest and all the thrills and excitement the event has to offer.”
The Road to Coventry is open to cars built before 1992, although younger vehicles of interest will be considered. The entry fee of £160 includes the following:
- Entry for a crew of 2 on the Road to Coventry
- Lunch and an evening meal for both crew members on Saturday 4th June
- Tulip style road book plus annotated and marked map book for crews who prefer to follow a map
- Dedicated parking area at Motofest
- Entry and dedicated parking at the Formula One Stock Car meeting on the evening of Saturday 4th June
- Souvenir Rally style numbered plates
- Opportunity to be a passenger in a “drift car” demonstration on Sunday 5th June
