Coventry College students show off automotive skills as MotoFest Classic launches 2026 programme

MotoFest Classic will celebrate Coventry’s global impact on the automotive industry with a full weekend programme of events on the 6th & 7th June. The centre piece of the event will be the impressive vehicle displays in Broadgate, where you will also be able to see Coventry College students showcase their impressive automotive paint and body skills with live demonstrations.

Coventry College will also give visitors a chance to see the latest electric vehicles alongside hundreds of classic cars and motorcycles  as they sponsor displays that will overflow out of Broadgate towards the Herbert Art Gallery and down to Millennium Place. Military vehicles will line up in front of Coventry Transport Museum alongside a display of Coventry built Rileys.

Coventry Cathedral will host the award winning Coventry Concours, which takes place in the impressive surroundings of the medieval ruins. Coventry Concours draws the finest vehicles from around the world to compete in a contest of beautiful design and meticulous presentation, critiqued by an expert panel of celebrity judges.

Jaguar will celebrate 40 years of the XJ40 which redefined luxury motoring in the 1980s. Examples will travel home to Coventry from all over the world to form a record breaking display in University Square. The display will feature one-off prototypes and pre-production models from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Collection. The XJ40 Register will host a celebratory gala dinner in the historic St. Mary’s Guildhall on the evening of Saturday 6th June.

Live Motorsport will return to Coventry City Centre as MotoFest Classic hosts a round of the UK Autotest and Autosolo championship, transforming Grove Street Car Park into an arena under Coventry Ring Road, which will remain fully open to traffic. The Motorcycle Ride-in will lap the Ring Road on Saturday morning to open the event before displaying alongside the cars in Broadgate and beyond. The MotoFest team are continuing to work with the FIA to bring wheel to wheel racing to Coventry City Centre in future years.

MotoFest remains a free festival which aims to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in the automotive industry and motorsport. It is therefore fitting that Coventry College are sponsoring the Classic Vehicle displays this year. Coventry College provides quality education programmes that support learners to maximise opportunities, realise ambitions and truly make a difference to their future.

The college works closely with local employers who offer exciting opportunities and contribute to the design of programmes, ensuring that learners develop the relevant industry skills, knowledge and disciplines to succeed.

Coventry College’s specialist Motor Vehicle Training Centre gives learners the opportunity to fine tune their skills using industry-standard facilities and equipment. Programmes cover a range of subjects giving learners a greater understanding of the motor vehicle industry with a hands-on approach to motor vehicle maintenance. This is coupled with being able to complete a work placement, giving learners a taste of a career in the industry. Gemma Knott, Vice Principal Business Growth, Engagement & Partnerships said, “Coventry College are delighted to sponsor MotoFest, we feel it is a significant city-wide event which ties in deeply with the rich engineering and manufacturing heritage of the City. Our College has extensive industry standard motor vehicle facilities including Body Repair which we will be showcasing throughout the weekend to encourage residents to up-skill and re-skill in important industries for UK PLC.”

James Noble, MotoFest Festival Director, said: “MotoFest Classic 2026 features an exciting programme of events, with something for everyone. As well as celebrating Coventry’s impressive automotive heritage, we are honoured to be partnering with Coventry College to showcase the skills of the automotive industry’s next generation”. MotoFest Classic is also supported by Anthony D Evans Insurance and Domestic Cooling Solutions. Both Coventry companies also support Club MotoFest’s year round programme of events; information on how to join Club MotoFest as well information on taking part in MotoFest Classic on the 6th & 7th June can be found using the the links above.
