Back on Track: MotoFest returns at full scale in September 2027

MotoFest will return at full scale to Coventry City Centre on the 4th and 5th of September 2027. The festival’s international format will celebrate Coventry’s global impact on the automotive industry as the city hosts motorsport and manufacturers from around the world. Racing on Coventry’s famous Ring Road will be rebooted with the creation of two new arenas around the Junction 6/ Greyfriars Green area featuring a packed programme of innovation shows, thrilling demonstrations from all levels of motorsport and top level competition with Formula G Autogymkhana, the UK’s hottest race series. This thrilling content will pave the way for future developments, as MotoFest continues to work with the FIA to bring international motorsport to Coventry.

The Innovation Zone will showcase the accelerating advances in sustainable transport whilst  the impressive Classic Vehicle Displays fill the city centre with all kinds of historic vehicles, demonstrating Coventry’s international influence on transport technology over the last 150 years, from the first bicycles to the latest EVs.

MotoFest has always featured a packed music programme and international street food, and both are set to expand this year through a new partnership with established music events organisation, Xtra Humongous. MotoFest and Xtra Humongous will expand quality and content with top acts in new venues especially created for the festival.

Xtra Humongous said “Xtra Humongous is delighted to be supporting MotoFest as it enters an exciting new chapter in 2027. The event has built a fantastic reputation over the years with all those attending, and we’re thrilled to be part of its evolution as it expands beyond motorsport to deliver an innovative hospitality and entertainment experience. The introduction of exciting new concepts will create even more reasons for visitors to stay longer, engage more and enjoy everything MotoFest has to offer, and we’re proud to be playing a part in that journey!”

Coventry Cathedral will host the award winning Coventry Concours, which takes place in the impressive surroundings of the medieval ruins. Coventry Concours draws the finest vehicles from around the world to compete in a contest of beautiful design and meticulous presentation, critiqued by an expert panel of celebrity judges. Grassroots competition will feature again with a round of the UK Autotest and Autosolo championship, transforming Grove Street Car Park into a third MotoFest motorsport arena under Coventry Ring Road.

MotoFest will remain an inclusive festival that is free for all, with new additional paid for experiences available on a ticketed basis. As well as being a weekend full of family fun, MotoFest aims to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in the automotive industry and motorsport.

James Noble, MotoFest Festival Director, said: “Coventry will take centre stage in the packed 2027 festival and motorsport calendar as MotoFest returns to full scale. Coventry’s impact on the way people move is global and this weekend long party will be an action packed celebration of the city that remains the beating heart of the automotive industry.”

Councillor John McNicholas, Coventry City Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion which covers events, welcomed the news of the return of MotoFest.

He said: “MotoFest is a brilliant showcase for Coventry, celebrating our city’s unique place in the automotive history whilst looking firmly to the future of sustainable transport.

“It’s fantastic to see the festival returning at full scale in 2027, and the Council is pleased to support the organisers as they bring this exciting programme back to the city centre.

“Events like this bring real vibrancy to Coventry, and I encourage residents and visitors alike to come along and be part of it.”

Programmes cover a range of subjects giving learners a greater understanding of the motor vehicle industry with a hands-on approach to motor vehicle maintenance. This is coupled with being able to complete a work placement, giving learners a taste of a career in the industry. Gemma Knott, Vice Principal Business Growth, Engagement & Partnerships said, “Coventry College are delighted to sponsor MotoFest, we feel it is a significant city-wide event which ties in deeply with the rich engineering and manufacturing heritage of the City.
