New evening concert, exclusive motorsport paddock passes and e-racing simulators powers up MotoFest events programme
MotoFest, in partnership with E.ON Drive, is to host an evening music concert, named the MotoFest After Party, with the aptly named Carpark, a London based all-female group, headlining the event.
The free to attend concert, on Saturday 10th September at Warwick Road in the City Centre, will see Carpark, line up with West Bromwich based indie rock band Wounded Spirit. They will be supported by Birmingham reggae artist Metz Jnr band and Coventry alternative rock group Luna Kiss and Coventry based covers band, Mind the Gap in a celebration of rising musical stars and established performers from across the Midlands region.
The festival headliner Carpark, comprising of Scottie, Hattie and Loda, are an indie rock band described as ‘Hiam meets 5SOS’ and already making their mark in the music industry.
With BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and Nels Hylton championing the band and appearances on the BBC Future Artists show, the MotoFest audience will soon see why Carpark are being tipped for the top, as the trio get set to perform at this year’s festival.
Alongside the up-and-coming Carpark, the more well-established Wounded Spirit are also currently making musical waves, with their track, Outside, from second album U Me and the Ocean, featured on new Channel 4 drama, The Undeclared War.
It’s the latest milestone in a whirlwind few years for the band, having won Best Album for their debut effort FOREVER young at the 2019 Black Country Music Awards. They have followed that success up with U Me and the Ocean, which is already attracting rave reviews.
The band have toured both albums extensively this year with a series of national gigs and are now ready to bring their unique blend of bright vocals and diverse sounds to the stage at MotoFest, in partnership with E.ON Drive.
Formed as recently as 2020, Metz Jnr band are a six-piece group Inspired by reggae, ska and diverse musical influences from around the world. The Birmingham based group has packed a lot into a short space of time since first forming including playing a sold out show in their home city and launching their debut album, ‘The Sun’, earlier this year.
Scottie, vocalist and bass guitarist for Carpark, said: “We can’t wait to play at such an iconic event. It’s fantastic to be headlining and we are looking forward to putting on an awesome show.
“With our band name we can’t think of a more appropriate place to headline than the MotoFest Coventry festival.”

The musical feast being served up for this year’s festival is part of a broader entertainments’ menu featuring a host of activities across the festival weekend. In addition to the main concert on Saturday night, there will be live music across both days with various stages featuring local Coventry and West Midlands performers and community groups.
The hugely popular Digbeth Dining Club will help create a dedicated food and drink village, along Warwick Road. With its array of street food vendors serving up a variety of tasty offerings, visitors will have ample opportunity to keep well fuelled throughout the festival weekend.
There will also be the traditional funfair with rides and attractions, competitions and challenges for adults and children alike, along with various interactive activities including motorsport simulators.
As part of MotoFest Coventry’s partnership with E.ON Drive, E.ON will host the Veloce Racing, Extreme E Race series Simulator on their exhibition stand, with some special driving challenges to be announced soon.
E.ON Drive is the lead brand partner for MotoFest Coventry in 2022. E.ON Drive is part of energy supply and solutions provider E.ON and provides an end-to-end electric vehicle charging service for customers.
A further new addition this year is the MotoFest Motorsport Paddock Access, offering exclusive access for up to three motorsport paddocks across the festival weekend. By purchasing a special wristband, visitors will be able to get close up to cars like never before, chat to the drivers and revel in the unique atmosphere of being ‘track side’ at the festival.
The MotoFest Motorsport Paddock Access is a two-tiered offer with Double Paddock Access, at £5, gaining entry to the Motorsport and Track Motorcycle Paddocks, while the Triple Paddock Access, at £10, provides entry to the Motorsport and Track Motorcycle Paddocks and the new Supercar Paddock. A further exclusive circuit experience is on offer through a new joint collaboration with Coventry City Council, as the popular CycleFest event comes to the MotoFest Sprint Circuit on the evening of Saturday 10th September.
CycleFest at MotoFest, which last year took place at Millenium Place, is this year being integrated into the main MotoFest Coventry festival. As a result, CycleFest at MotoFest will offer thousands of riders the opportunity to take part in a ride around the unique Ring Road Sprint Circuit with the event commencing from 6.30pm onwards, following the completion of the day’s motorsport track programme.
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events at Coventry City Council said: “We know Motofest is always a popular, well-attended event and its fitting that such a big celebration of our transport heritage and future innovation takes place in Coventry city centre.
“I’m pleased to also see that the city’s Cycle Fest event will also form part of the overall offering over the weekend so more people will be able to make the most of their time spent here whether as a local resident or visitor to Coventry.
“It’s been another amazing year already for events in Coventry and Motofest is another great element of our city events programme especially as it will tie-in with the Heritage Open Days activity in that weekend. “

As part of MotoFest Coventry 2022’s past, present and future theme, there will be the traditional classic car, modern modified static car and motorcycle displays across the City Centre. There will also be a significant future technology focus, with a showcase of the latest alternatively fueled vehicles, electric cars and advanced automotive technology.
MotoFest in partnership with E.ON Drive is a two-day free festival dedicated to the city of Coventry’s motoring heritage, taking place on Saturday 10th September and Sunday 11th September 2022. It will feature a unique blend of motorsport demonstrations, static displays, live music, culture and many other elements all with a connection to Coventry, transport and the city’s motoring heritage.
